On September 24, Play Solana opened pre-orders for its new PSG1 handheld gaming console with support for Solana-based blockchain applications.

So not only is the Solana network aiming to become a hardware maker, but in this case it's trying to cross two hype trends: NFT/memecoins and blockchain gaming. In doing so, it carries a full-fledged hardware wallet on board, which expands its practical functionality for degens even further.

Owners of the branded NFT <Player1> will receive a cheap price on the gaming console, as well as access to exclusive updates and benefits in the Play Solana ecosystem, including participation in the SPL management token giveaway. The PSG1 console is scheduled to be released in the second quarter of 2025.

As a reminder, just recently, on September 19, the Solana team presented a new version of the Web3 smartphone called Solana Seeker. The number of pre-sales of the device exceeded 140,000 in 57 countries.

All this activity is quite unusual for a standard blockchain project, but it seems to be a rather successful attempt to diversify their business (judging by the success of sales of the first Web3 smartphone, which was released last year).
