According to Saylor, ChatGPT helped Strategy design a financial instrument that allowed the company to raise capital for additional Bitcoin purchases. He said the company turned to this solution after exhausting traditional funding options.
“By the beginning of 2025, we had exhausted the equity markets. We had become the world’s largest issuer of convertible bonds, and we needed to invent a new type of security so we could borrow money to buy even more Bitcoin,” Saylor said.
According to him, ChatGPT proposed the structure of the new instrument, which was later launched as the STRK preferred stock. As a result, Strategy raised about $15B and used the funds to purchase BTC.
Saylor believes the greatest value of AI lies in finding solutions to problems that do not yet have clear answers.
“We asked ChatGPT whether it was even possible to create such an instrument. It said, ‘Of course. Just do this, this, and this.’ The lawyers objected: ‘No one has ever done that before.’ ChatGPT replied, ‘Just do it,’” Saylor said.
