One of the most recognizable NFT projects, World of Women, has announced the appointment of a new CEO. The role has been taken by Vi Powils — an entrepreneur with experience in scaling crypto startups and contributing to highly regarded projects. The WoW community is hopeful for a new phase of growth for the collection, which is rooted in the values of inclusion and women’s leadership.
Vi Powils previously served as the Director of Business Development at Pudgy Penguins, a project that reached a valuation of over $1 billion during her tenure. Powils has also co-founded several crypto companies and advised funds and family offices investing in digital assets.
In her new role, she will lead one of the key projects in the NFT industry, launched in 2021 by digital artist Yam Karkai. The collection consists of 10,000 algorithmically generated portraits of women, representing cultural diversity and a commitment to amplifying women’s presence in Web3.
WoW's Success and Partnerships
Since its launch, World of Women has become not only a commercial success but also a platform for social initiatives. The collection has generated over $400 million in trading volume on NFT marketplaces. According to nftpricefloor, the current floor price stands at 0.48 ETH — up more than 40% in the past 24 hours.
The project has collaborated with major brands including Samsung, Mastercard, Sephora, Hasbro, FC Barcelona, and Cloudy Bay (a label under LVMH). Additionally, WoW has donated over $2 million to charitable causes, supporting women artists and global programs for women's empowerment.
The NFTs are built on the Tezos blockchain, which uses the energy-efficient Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism.
New Plans and Statements
Vi Powils stated that she views her new role as the beginning of a new chapter for World of Women. According to her, the project will expand its product offerings and place greater emphasis on community engagement. While specific initiatives have not yet been disclosed, she mentioned that several new partnerships are already underway.
Powils emphasized that she does not see her appointment as a relaunch of the project but rather as an “ascension.” She described WoW as a “family and a place where dreams become possible” and pledged to channel the energy of the collection into sustainable growth.
Assessment From the Tezos Ecosystem
Katie Hegarty, Head of Community Engagement at the Tezos hub Trilitech, expressed her support for the changes at WoW, highlighting the project's impact on the Web3 space. According to her, the project goes beyond digital art and provides women with the tools to take part in the industry's transformation.
