An Ethereum ICO participant transferred 2,000 ETH received at the network's launch after more than 11 years of complete inactivity, in a transaction spotted by Lookonchain analysts. The funds were sent to a new wallet and have remained there ever since.

At current prices, the holdings are worth about $3.79M.

During Ethereum’s 2014 ICO, ETH was sold for about $0.31 per coin, meaning a $620 investment bought 2,000 ETH. The value of the holdings has increased by roughly 6,100 times. The coins were received on July 30, 2015, and remained untouched for more than 11 years.

The owner first sent a test transaction of 1 ETH before transferring the remaining balance. The funds are currently held at the new address. So far, there have been no signs of them being sent to exchanges or swapped for stablecoins.

Transfers from wallets belonging to early Ethereum participants regularly attract the attention of on-chain analysts. Throughout 2025 and 2026, several large ETH transfers by ICO participants have already taken place, including transactions involving tens of thousands of coins.

This time, the transfer was much smaller, but the wallet’s more than 11 years of inactivity makes the transaction a notable event.
