The Zcash blockchain stopped generating new blocks on June 3, 2026, and had not resumed block production for more than four hours. The last block, numbered 3,364,601, was produced at 5:27 a.m. UTC, after which the network came to a standstill. The project team had not publicly commented on the situation at the time of publication.
A blockchain is a continuously expanding ledger in which each new block records the latest transactions. When a network stops adding new blocks, no transfers can be confirmed, effectively bringing the entire system to a halt until block production resumes.
Such a pause is unusual for Zcash. Under normal conditions, the network generates a new block roughly every 75 seconds. A disruption of this magnitude is rare for the network.
The disruption has not affected the coin’s price so far. At the time of publication, ZEC was trading at around $599, up 4.51% over the past 24 hours and 5.25% over the past week. Its market capitalization stood at approximately $10 B, while daily trading volume surged 80% to reach $1.6 B.
