Conor McGregor has reignited his conflict with Khabib Nurmagomedov following the release and successful sale of the latter’s NFT collection.

Nurmagomedov recently unveiled the Papakhas token collection on Telegram. The release included 29,000 NFTs shaped like a papakha, the traditional headwear of the Caucasus region. Reports indicate the entire collection sold out in just 24 hours, generating approximately $4.5 M for the organizers. However, immediately after the sale concluded, all promotional posts disappeared from the fighter’s social media.

McGregor reacted instantly to the content removal. He stated that good guy Khabib used Dagestan’s culture and the memory of his late father for a quick profit. The Irishman labeled the move a scam designed to strip fans of their money.

The Dagestani fighter denied the accusations, calling his opponent a liar attempting to tarnish his reputation following the 2018 defeat. Nurmagomedov described the tokens as exclusive digital gifts with real value, designed to promote his people's traditions rather than for speculation.

The Boomerang Effect

Renowned on-chain researcher ZachXBT unexpectedly entered the dispute. The analyst did not defend the Russian fighter but instead used McGregor’s rhetoric against him. He reminded the Irishman of his own projects: the REAL memecoin and the McGregor Realm NFT collection.

ZachXBT copied the text of Conor’s accusation, replacing Dagestan with Irish culture. He pointed out that McGregor had previously held token auctions and raised funds, only to quietly delete mentions of the projects later. The REAL token launched via a sealed-bid auction but only managed to raise 39.000% of the target amount. The funds were later returned to participants due to the bear market.
