X has launched the Cashtags feature on iPhone in the US and Canada, bringing real-time stock and crypto data into the feed. At the same time, the platform has launched a pilot with Canadian broker Wealthsimple, allowing users to go directly to trading from posts — a button appears when they tap a ticker or a contract address.
According to Nikita Bier, X’s director of product, when users enter or search for a cashtag, the system suggests matching stocks or tokens, after which they can select the asset they want. Tapping it opens a feed of posts mentioning the asset, along with a price chart available inside X without leaving the app.
In Canada, tapping a ticker brings up a button that sends users to Wealthsimple to complete the trade. There is no account linking: X acts as a traffic source rather than a brokerage interface. Bier said the feature is still at an early stage.
The Cashtags rollout launched on iPhone in the US and Canada. Web support, Android, and a broader global expansion are in the works and expected to follow soon.
