The account of rapper Wiz Khalifa on the X platform was hacked on November 3, leading to the posting of information about a fraudulent memecoin called WIZ, which soon plummeted to a critical level.

The scam token was promoted to the rapper's massive audience, which currently totals 35.7 million followers. In the now-deleted post, hackers claimed that Wiz Khalifa was allegedly collaborating with a team to launch the WIZ token for cryptocurrency fans. Just 15 minutes after its launch, the market capitalization of the coin soared to $3.4 million on the Solana-based platform pump.fun.

However, within an hour, the figure fell to less than $28,000 as early holders began to sell off their tokens. According to DEX Screener, WIZ has dropped by 92.78% in the last 24 hours and is now trading at just $0.0000008912 per coin.

Wiz Khalifa is not the only celebrity to fall victim to such hacker attacks. Previously, accounts of the following celebrities were also hacked to promote fraudulent tokens:

  • 50 Cent: In June 2024, hackers gained access to the rapper's Instagram account, where they posted content promoting a scam token called G-Unit, leveraging the name associated with his music career. The account was used to create fake announcements and attract investors.
  • Doja Cat: In July of the same year, singer Doja Cat's Twitter account was also hacked. The attackers used her account to promote a token named "DOJA," which turned out to be a scam.
  • Sydney Sweeney: On July 30, 2024, Sydney Sweeney's account was hacked, and a memecoin called SWEENEY was promoted, leading to approximately $515,000 being stolen.
  • Andy Ayrey: The creator of the semi-autonomous AI bot Truth Terminal lost access to his X account in October 2024, with scammers profiting over $600,000 from his followers.

According to blockchain analyst ZachXBT, the same hacker is behind the recent breach of Khalifa's account.

While posts about the WIZ token have been deleted, it remains unclear whether control over the rapper's account has been restored. So, be cautious!
