U.S. President Donald Trump announced that most Americans will receive a $2,000 payment funded by tariff revenues. He said the dividend will exclude high-income citizens and will serve as part of an economic stimulus aimed at boosting domestic demand.

The announcement came as the Supreme Court reviews the legality of Trump’s tariff policy. On prediction platforms Kalshi and Polymarket, traders currently estimate the chances of the court approving the initiative at 23% and 24%, respectively.

Trump maintains that the president has the authority to suspend trade with other nations and impose tariffs in the interest of national security.

“If the head of state can stop all trade, why can’t he impose a simple tariff?” he stated.

Investors viewed the proposal as a potential catalyst for short-term market growth, with some even suggesting it could spark the next altseason. Analysts at The Kobeissi Letter estimate that around 85% of U.S. adults would qualify for the payments, similar to how stimulus checks were distributed during the pandemic.

Bitcoin investor and entrepreneur Simon Dixon warned that the payouts could accelerate inflation and erode purchasing power.

“If you don’t put those $2,000 into assets, inflation will destroy their value or they’ll go toward servicing debt,” he said.

Investor Anthony Pompliano added that both crypto and stock markets are likely to react positively.

Overall, analysts believe the crypto market is preparing for a new wave of liquidity inflows, though they caution that the short-term rally could eventually translate into longer-term pressure on the U.S. dollar.
