Telegram founder Pavel Durov revealed plans to launch a built-in Gram wallet for all users of the messenger. The wallet will automatically appear directly in the Telegram app, whose audience exceeded 1 billion monthly active users at the time of publication.

The native Gram wallet will be a separate product designed for the simplest possible user experience within the messenger. At the same time, Wallet, which has more than 150 million registered accounts and offers both custodial and non-custodial solutions, including DeFi Account, will continue to operate. Both products will work in parallel.

“This will be the largest deployment of a non-custodial wallet in history. Transactions within the Telegram ecosystem will become instant and free,” Durov emphasized.

The launch is scheduled for summer 2026, although the company has not yet announced an exact date. It also has not disclosed the list of assets available at launch, the mechanism for covering network fees for zero-fee transfers, the account recovery system, or potential regional restrictions. These questions are currently being actively discussed across the crypto community.

Following the announcement, the GRAM token traded around $1.59, gaining 5.8% over the past 24 hours. Its market capitalization exceeded $4.1 B.

Context

In recent months, Telegram has increased its involvement in the development of the TON ecosystem, reduced fees, and expanded the use of the token across its own services.

On June 15, 2026, Toncoin was officially renamed Gram, a name that refers back to Telegram’s original 2018 project, which the SEC halted in 2019–2020. The community supported the rebranding with approximately 81% of the vote.
