French artist Richard Orlinski has announced a new physical and NFT-based sculpture depicting a Shiba Inu dog, the iconic symbol of meme cryptocurrencies Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB).

The artwork will be showcased at the Artverse exhibition, running from March 14 to March 20, which brings together physical and virtual art pieces. The event is organized by Sébastien Borget, co-founder of the metaverse project The Sandbox.

Crypto Symbol in Contemporary Art

The choice of Shiba Inu is not random, as this breed has become synonymous with digital assets. Dogecoin, initially created as a joke in 2013, has grown into one of the most recognized cryptocurrencies, while SHIB, the second-largest meme coin by market cap, continues to expand its influence in the crypto industry.

Orlinski aims to make art accessible to everyone, aligning with the decentralized nature of cryptocurrencies. His work seeks to merge contemporary aesthetics with digital technology, illustrating how Web3 innovations are reshaping the art world.

NFTs and Blockchain in Art

The NFT version of the Shiba Inu sculpture is built on the Trezor blockchain, ensuring authenticity and verifiable ownership for collectors.

For Orlinski, embracing NFTs is a natural extension of his artistic career. As Web3 evolves, he sees digital art as an opportunity to reach a broader audience and introduce new ways of interacting with artwork.

Crypto Culture and a Global Trend

Memes and cryptocurrencies have long influenced mainstream culture. Billionaire Elon Musk, a vocal Dogecoin supporter, has frequently incorporated Shiba Inu imagery into his ventures.

In 2023, he temporarily replaced the Twitter (now X) logo with a Shiba Inu dog, and in 2025, the meme-symbol even appeared on the official website of the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E.), which he oversees.
