Mastercard has completed its acquisition of British fintech company BVNK, which develops infrastructure for stablecoin payments. The companies announced the deal in official press releases on August 3. Following the acquisition, Mastercard will combine its own payment network with BVNK’s technology platform, which enables transfers, storage, and conversion of funds between fiat currencies and stablecoins.
The companies aim to expand the use of stablecoins in cross-border B2B payments, remittances, corporate payouts, settlements, and treasury operations. The solution is designed for banks, payment providers, fintech companies, crypto exchanges, and international businesses, making it easier for them to launch these services without having to build the required blockchain infrastructure from scratch.
For now, nothing will change for BVNK customers. Its products and services will continue operating as usual. At a later stage, the company plans to give its customers access to additional Mastercard payment capabilities, including card products and international money transfers.
