Logan Paul confirmed the sale of the unique Pikachu Illustrator card through the Goldin Auctions platform. Bidding begins on January 12. The owner decided to lock in profits amid peak interest in the collectibles market, which experts increasingly view as an alternative investment class.

Financial Details

Under the agreement, auction house founder Ken Goldin has already paid the seller a $2.5 M advance. The deal’s details were revealed in the new season of Netflix’s King of Collectibles, which premiered on December 23. Goldin forecasts the final lot price will range from $7 M to $12 M, establishing a new benchmark for the collectibles industry.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Paul and Goldin described the current market conditions as highly favorable for a sale. The influencer noted that the terms offered by the auction house left him with no choice.

Deal Background

Logan Paul purchased the card in 2021 for $5.3 M. This acquisition set a Guinness World Record as the most expensive private sale of a Pokemon trading card. Paul previously declined a $7.5 M buyout offer, confirming the aggressive price surge in the premium collectibles segment over recent years.

The Pikachu Illustrator is considered the “Holy Grail” among collectors due to its extreme rarity and status. The upcoming auction will test the real liquidity of such assets in the current market environment.
