Users of Coinbase may soon gain access to tokenized stocks and predictions directly within the app. Independent researcher Jane Manchun Wong discovered the hidden interfaces. She specializes in finding new features in the software code of tech giants before their official announcements.
This finding confirms the company’s drive to implement a strategy of combining various instruments into a single space.
Details of the Discovered Interface
Wong conducted reverse engineering of the exchange’s public mobile app code, revealing tabs for “Stocks”, “Predictions”, and “AI Assistant”. Screenshots published on November 19 show a detailed design with sections for each new function.
The system suggests account funding for trading participation using both fiat dollars and USDC stablecoins. This aligns with company plans to integrate stablecoins into real-world asset trading.
Partnership with Kalshi
Technical information in the screenshots indicates that the prediction platform will likely be implemented based on Kalshi, currently the only licensed operator in this sector within the US. Cooperation with Kalshi would allow Coinbase to legally offer services to American users by utilizing the partner’s existing regulatory framework.
This will intensify rivalry with the Polymarket platform, which holds leadership in trading volume on a global scale. The main competitor is currently working on a full return to the American market, having relaunched a beta version for the US and acquired the licensed venue QCX.
Unlike Polymarket, the solution from Coinbase is built from the ground up on a foundation of full regulatory compliance.
The company previously announced a “Coinbase System Update” livestream on X, promising to present important product updates. Back in July, VP of Product Max Branzburg stated plans to create a universal exchange where clients can move all their assets onchain.
