David Sacks told Bloomberg he is leaving his role as the White House advisor on artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies — his stint as a special government employee has run its course. He will now serve as co-chair of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
AI Legislation Is Months Away
In the same interview, Sacks said Congress plans to pass bipartisan AI legislation within the coming months. Last week, the White House introduced a unified federal standard set to replace a patchwork of state-level laws. The document covers child online safety, intellectual property rules, and censorship restrictions.
Whether Republicans will secure Democratic support on the issue before the midterm elections remains an open question — Democrats have little incentive to hand their opponents an early win. Sacks, however, remains optimistic.
"Democrats understand that it is neither sensible nor practical for 50 states to move in 50 different directions," he said.
