The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office forwarded the criminal case of a 39-year-old crypto investor to court. The accused attempted to murder his business partner following a severe drawdown of their joint funds. Authorities currently hold him in custody pending trial.

Since 2022, the partners had jointly managed a crypto fund for algorithmic Bitcoin trading until a fierce conflict derailed the venture. The trader unilaterally invested 1.17B won from the company wallet into third-party assets, completely losing these funds on the market.

At a Seoul cafe on the evening of November 23, the trader mixed the insecticide methomyl into his colleague's drink, causing the victim to lose consciousness instantly. Medical personnel rushed the victim to the hospital, where he remained in a deep coma for three days.

The investigation confirmed the physical elimination attempt was premeditated. The accused ordered the chemicals online from China a month before the meeting, paying 290K won for the poison.

The trial starts on March 10 at the Seoul Eastern District Court.
