The Zcash network activated the Ironwood NU6.3 upgrade at block height 3,428,143. Developers launched the new shielded pool after addressing a vulnerability discovered in Orchard in late May.

Orchard no longer accepts new funds. Assets remaining in the previous pool must pass through a dedicated verification mechanism before moving to Ironwood. The mechanism checks that no more ZEC is withdrawn from Orchard than has been verified as deposited, without revealing any details of shielded transactions.

Developers said they found no signs that the vulnerability had been exploited, that users had lost funds, or that the total ZEC supply had changed.

The Ironwood protocol underwent formal mathematical verification and an independent security review. Shielded Labs, Project Tachyon, Valar Group, the Zcash Foundation, Zodl, and other members of the ecosystem contributed to the development of the upgrade.

On July 10, Zcash announced the block height for the NU6.3 activation and published a preparation schedule. Following the launch, the network began migrating funds from Orchard to the new shielded pool.
