Donald Trump announced the nomination of Kevin Warsh as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. The President made the statement on January 30 via Truth Social.
Warsh is currently a partner at Duquesne Family Office, working alongside famous investor Stanley Druckenmiller. He is also a research fellow at the Hoover Institution and lectures at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Experience at the Fed and the White House
Warsh is already familiar with the inner workings of the American central bank. In 2006, he set a record as the youngest Fed Governor at age 35. His tenure lasted until 2011. During this period, he represented the Federal Reserve at the G-20 and oversaw ties with Asian economies. Beyond diplomatic tasks, he handled administrative duties, managing the Board’s operations and personnel.
Warsh’s political background includes a stint in the presidential administration from 2002 to 2006. There, he served as Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy and Executive Secretary of the National Economic Council. He began his finance career in New York in the Mergers & Acquisitions department at Morgan Stanley.
International Recognition
Warsh’s expertise is in demand overseas as well — he authored an independent report for the Bank of England proposing reforms for UK monetary policy. Parliament adopted the recommendations outlined in the document.
Trump expressed confidence that Warsh will go down in history as one of the best Fed leaders, calling his candidacy a perfect fit for the role.
