Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino presented the results of another stage of development for the decentralized search engine. The system already works with distributed copies of the data, and the team tested it using one of the largest open knowledge bases in the world — Wikipedia. The test involved 100 nodes, with the encyclopedia’s content distributed across them.
Ardoino wrote that the project is being developed by Tether’s P2P team. He described it as a system designed to scale to thousands of nodes, automatically organize data into fault-tolerant structures, and maintain high availability while remaining resistant to censorship. He also shared a video from the test environment and described its performance as “insane.”
The project was first publicly referred to as hypersearch in 2026, on April 7. Ardoino described it as a decentralized search engine based on a distributed hash table (DHT). On May 14, he showed a separate demo of a Wikipedia search and described the product as an open-source P2P search engine that the Tether team is rapidly refining.
