On March 17, Tether unveiled details of its proprietary QVAC Fabric framework — a system that allows language models to be fine-tuned without relying on data centers or cloud infrastructure. According to the press release, the solution will let users run and further train AI directly on personal devices, including smartphones.
The company says QVAC Fabric enables models to work entirely on-device without sending data to the cloud. This reduces reliance on centralized providers and could reshape how data is stored and processed.
“Without relying on third-party infrastructure, users can adapt models to their specific needs faster,” the project team said.
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the company will continue investing in local AI development and in reducing dependence on cloud services.
