In conjunction with the launch of the new Gifts service, Durov said in his Telegram channel that these animated works of art will soon support NFT conversion. He explained:
“Some Gifts are in limited quantities. Later this year, we will introduce the ability to convert these limited edition gifts to TON-based NFT.”
Once converted to a blockchain-based NFT, the limited gifts will be able to be used outside of Telegram.
“Users will be able to auction and trade these tokenized gifts outside Telegram, and ownership will be recorded in the blockchain,” Durov added.
In addition to Telegram itself, popular Telegram-based Web3 game Hamster Kombat also previously said it would add support for TON-based NFT. On Sept. 25, this popular clicker game said it would integrate NFTs as in-game assets in November.
