The Solana Optimistic Network project is preparing to distribute its native $SOON token. Users can already track the launch via Binance Alpha. The team promises fair distribution and a new Layer 2 architecture based on the Solana Virtual Machine.

Airdrop and Token Distribution

According to the announcement, community members and early supporters will receive 8% of the total supply — 80 million tokens out of 1 billion.

The overall distribution structure includes:

  • 51% (510 million) allocated to the community,
  • 25% (250 million) to the ecosystem,
  • 10% (100 million) to the team and partners,
  • 6% (60 million) to the foundation’s reserve.
As stated in the project blog, the $SOON token plays a dual role: it is both a utility asset within the ecosystem and a governance tool.

Technical Architecture and Strategy

The project has reportedly taken a non-standard approach: unlike other Layer 2 solutions built on the Ethereum Virtual Machine, Solana Optimistic Network implemented a Decoupled SVM architecture, separating execution and settlement layers. This method has enabled high performance and scalability through horizontal distribution and integration with the Firedancer node.

CEO Joanna Zeng acknowledged that this decision sparked internal debate, as priorities between security and user-facing solutions clashed for a long time. As a result, despite a three-month delay, Zeng stated that Decoupled SVM delivered “high performance combined with robust security.”

Funding and Launch

According to Cryptorank, the project raised $22 million during an NFT sale titled “COMMing $SOON.” The round included participation from venture funds Hack VC, ABCDE, Hypersphere, and SNZ Capital. The funds were used to launch the mainnet, which already supports interoperability with Base and BNB Chain, extending beyond Ethereum.

$SOON has already appeared on Binance Alpha.
