The Shiba Inu (SHIB) ecosystem has introduced a Karma points system aimed at increasing user engagement on its Layer 2 blockchain, Shibarium.
According to the announcement, the new feature will allow active participants to receive additional privileges and rewards within the DAO. In the future, Karma points will be used to boost yield from liquid staking and provide access to other ecosystem functionalities.
Karma Is Not Just Points, but Also Power
According to Shibarium developer Kaal Dhairya, the new system is inspired by the gaming principle of experience points (XP): the more actions a user performs, the higher their “trust level” and status within the network. The developers believe this approach will help build a more sustainable and transparent reputation model for interactions within Web3 applications.
Karma points can already be exchanged for digital perks:
- participation in exclusive SHIB community events (both online and offline),
- priority display in official services,
- increased voting power in DAO decisions.
The latter feature will allow active community members to influence the future development of the ecosystem.
The Mission Is to Build Trust in Web3
During a podcast with Shytoshi Kusama, lead developer of Shiba Inu, the philosophy behind the new system was discussed in detail.
“Karma helps identify who you're interacting with on the network. It will take into account user activity across various applications — from Play-to-Earn (P2E) games to digital art marketplaces and decentralized exchanges. All of this is governed by DAO,” the developer explained.
SHIB Continues Expanding Its Ecosystem
Despite volatile market conditions, the Shiba Inu team is launching the TREAT token — the fourth in the ecosystem. It will be used in ShibOS, the new blockchain operating system recently chosen as the governance solution by the UAE authorities. Upcoming launches also include SHIB: The Metaverse.
Community Support
The Karma program was announced after the Shibarium network surpassed the milestone of 1 billion transactions. To mark this achievement, the project team expressed their gratitude to the so-called SHIB Army — the community that remains active even during a prolonged bear market.
