The X profile of Keith Gill, better known as Roaring Kitty, was compromised to orchestrate a predatory pump-and-dump scheme.

According to Lookonchain, hackers hijacked the account to aggressively promote a Solana-based meme coin dubbed RKC, sending the token to near-zero once the orchestrators liquidated their positions.

The exploiter walked away with a total profit of approximately $611.000, equivalent to 6260 SOL.

The Blueprint

Analysts revealed the scheme was meticulously planned. The attacker initially distributed 20 SOL (roughly $1.950) across 10 separate wallets to avoid triggering alerts regarding whale concentration.

These funds were used to scoop up 395,18 million RKC tokens, or 39,52% of the total supply.

Once the accumulation was complete, a post featuring the token’s ticker appeared on the Roaring Kitty account, triggering an immediate frenzy among retail investors.

The Exit

As the retail crowd surged in and drove the price higher, the hacker liquidated the entire position for 5071 SOL (about $495.000). The promotional post was deleted immediately after the dump, causing the token's value to crash by 90% almost instantly.

Beyond the direct sale, the attacker squeezed an additional 1209 SOL (roughly $118.000) from creator fees generated by the frantic trading volume of trapped users. The funds were subsequently funneled through a series of transactions across the Solana network.

Keith Gill remains a legendary figure in both crypto and traditional finance circles. In 2021, his activity on Reddit sparked the historic GameStop (GME) short squeeze that famously disrupted major hedge funds.
