Hong Kong-based company Reitar Logtech Holdings Ltd, which operates in the real estate and logistics technology sectors, has announced the launch of a program to acquire up to $1.5 billion worth of Bitcoin.
According to the announcement, the company plans to purchase up to 15,000 BTC as part of an initiative to diversify its corporate treasury and strengthen financial resilience.
Transaction Mechanics and Program Goals
Reitar plans to acquire the Bitcoins from a pool of institutional and high-net-worth private investors in exchange for company shares. The valuation will be based on the average market value of both BTC and the securities.
The acquired assets will be used to develop digital infrastructure and pursue mergers in rapidly growing Asian regions. The move is also intended to strengthen the company's balance sheet and reduce reliance on traditional assets.
A Direct Bitcoin Position on the Balance Sheet
In a filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the company emphasized that the BTC acquisition is a strategic decision aimed at "resilience and adaptation of the corporate model."
Chairman and CEO Dale Shen noted that the integration of digital assets reflects the company’s long-term vision in logistics innovation and reducing vulnerability to traditional risks.
Stock Surge Following the Announcement
The announcement of the new strategy prompted an immediate response from investors: Reitar’s shares rose by 41,37%. This aligns with a noticeable market trend. According to analysts, companies that announce investments in BTC often experience a sharp increase in their stock prices. For example, Norwegian Block Exchange (NBX) jumped 138% in one day after purchasing 6 BTC and promising to increase holdings to 10 BTC.
