PUMP lost 20% of its value after Pump.fun co-founder Alon announced during a livestream that the airdrop would be delayed indefinitely. The statement triggered a wave of sell-offs, pushing the token’s price below its presale level.

Selling Accelerates Amid Uncertainty

The market reacted immediately: PUMP quickly entered the top of centralized exchanges by trading volume. Large positions began to liquidate. AI assistant Alva detected signs of price pressure from large holders (whales), noting that the postponed airdrop undermined trust and prompted an exit wave from the asset.

User @shivrxj, meanwhile, tried to justify the team’s decision.

“It makes sense. If the airdrop happens now, the selling pressure will be enormous, and the price will drop even further,” he commented.

Problems Started Earlier With Post-ICO Dumping

The token had already been under pressure. After one of the most successful ICOs of 2025, nearly 60% of presale participants moved their tokens to exchanges or external wallets, according to BitMEX. A strong start quickly gave way to decline: prices fell, and the platform’s volume has been shrinking for six consecutive months.

$75K in Tokens Burned as 'Spam'

The situation worsened after an incident that sparked heated debate within the community. A user allegedly burned 10 million PUMP tokens, mistakenly assuming they were “junk” in his wallet. The tool he used was designed to remove spam, and the user reportedly didn’t realize he was deleting tokens worth around $75,000.

This incident raised questions. The official PUMP airdrop hasn’t happened yet. The only communication from the Pump.fun team was the July 12, 2025 announcement of the token sale, which included the vague promise: “airdrop coming soon.” Now, the airdrop has been postponed indefinitely. This has fueled speculation about how the user received the tokens in the first place, and whether the destroyed tokens were legitimate.

At the time of writing, the token is trading at $0.003035, down 20% in the past 24 hours and 58% from its launch price.
