The Pudgy Penguins team has secured ad placement on the Las Vegas Sphere. Animated clips featuring the penguins will be broadcast throughout Christmas week, starting December 24. This is a rare instance of a crypto project receiving airtime on the world’s largest spherical screen.
Another Move Offline
The campaign cost around $500,000 — the standard rate for this venue. While Bitcoin has appeared on the Sphere before, individual Web3 brands rarely secure spots there. For Pudgy Penguins, this is another strategic step toward the mainstream audience.
Chief Strategy Officer Vedant Mangaldnas attributes the deal to the "real business" operating behind the digital collectibles. The project has long outgrown the Ethereum blockchain: the company sells physical toys in major retail chains and is developing a browser game. Broadcasting on the Sphere places the brand alongside traditional entertainment giants.
Price Metrics
Earlier this year, Pudgy Penguins temporarily flipped the Bored Apes Yacht Club in floor price. The cost of the cheapest asset in the 8,888-piece collection exceeded $100,000. The all-time sales record stands since August 2022, when a rare NFT was auctioned for 400 ETH.
The PENGU token on Solana, linked to the project’s ecosystem, is already trading on major platforms like Coinbase and Robinhood. However, media wins have not yet translated to the asset’s price: the coin is trading at a significant discount, down about 80% over the last year.
