The New York Times reports that OpenAI has integrated data from prediction market platform Kalshi into ChatGPT for the first time. The data now appears in the chatbot’s responses. The new feature is currently limited to queries about the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where users are shown market-implied probabilities of each team winning. It is still not possible to place bets through the service.
OpenAI’s updated documentation states that Kalshi data is used only for queries related to the 2026 FIFA World Cup and is provided strictly for informational purposes. The company has not publicly announced the partnership.
Kalshi Expands Beyond Its Own Platform
Kalshi’s appearance in ChatGPT continues the broader trend of bringing prediction market data beyond specialized platforms.
Earlier, Kalshi began providing its prediction data to CNN and CNBC. In January, its competitor Polymarket signed an agreement with Dow Jones, after which its data became available across the media company’s products, including The Wall Street Journal.
Google already incorporates data from Kalshi and Polymarket into Google Search results and Google Finance. According to The New York Times, Meta is also developing a standalone prediction markets app with support for Facebook and Messenger.
Regulators Increase Scrutiny
U.S. regulators are paying increasing attention to prediction markets. The concern is that participants could use non-public information when trading contracts tied to military events or corporate news.
According to The New York Times, one of the U.S. federal financial regulators launched a broad review of Polymarket this year to determine whether the platform’s operations comply with legal requirements.
