Hacking of Nasdaq's Account and the STONKS Token
It's reported that hackers posted a tweet from a fake Nasdaq account promoting the new STONKS memecoin. Leveraging Nasdaq's reputation, they managed to attract the attention of investors, leading to a sharp spike in the token's value.
The trading volume and frenzy around STONKS increased its market cap to $80 million. However, it soon became clear that the project was fraudulent, and the token's value crashed. Consequently, the tweet was deleted, and the account was deactivated.
Despite this, some traders managed to profit from the token before the rug pull. User kanyefnf.sol invested 49.95 SOL and earned $867,000, giving a 6737% return.
Rumors of McAfee's Account Hack and the AINTI Token
Earlier that day, messages appeared on X about the possible hacking of John McAfee's account, the creator of the eponymous antivirus and a cybersecurity pioneer. A post advertising the AINTI token, allegedly representing an "AI version of McAfee," appeared on the page. Shortly after, a second message was posted:
"Account was not hacked. Everything is under control. Details soon."
Security researcher PeckShieldAlert confirmed that there was no hack. However, many traders treated this information with skepticism, describing the situation as at least odd.
Meanwhile, the AINTI token began to gain popularity rapidly. The asset almost immediately took first place in purchases among smart wallets on the Solana blockchain. At its peak, its value increased by 1600%. One trader invested $11.2 thousand and earned $124 thousand, while still holding 316,000 tokens. At the time of writing, this is approximately $101.1 thousand.
