In a post published on October 14, the Monad team confirmed that the MON distribution has officially begun. The airdrop is part of a broader marketing campaign to promote the project’s next-generation blockchain. Monad plans to launch its mainnet by the end of 2025.
The distribution covers a wide range of users, including EVM and Solana wallet owners who have been actively involved in DeFi and NFT projects. Eligible participants include traders on decentralized exchanges such as Hyperliquid and Phantom Wallet, users of Pump.fun and Virtuals, as well as meme coin market participants.
Additionally, the list includes liquidity providers in major DeFi protocols.
Another category of recipients consists of holders of well-known NFT collections such as Azuki, CryptoPunks, Doodles, Pudgy Penguins, and others.
The Monad team explained that the MON airdrop targets “people who live crypto” – active users, traders, and collectors who form the backbone of the Web3 community. Essentially, the goal is to distribute tokens among those who can test and support the ecosystem at an early stage.
Monad positions itself as a high-performance, EVM-compatible network designed to solve scalability challenges faced by Ethereum. The project aims to make the deployment of smart contracts and developer tools fully compatible with existing infrastructure.
The launch of MON marks the first major step toward the network’s release and serves as a way to draw attention to a new entrant in the Layer-1 blockchain market.
