The company has begun paying select creators in Circle’s USDC stablecoin, according to an updated page on Facebook Business’s official support site.

Payments are processed through Stripe, while settlements take place on the Solana and Polygon blockchains. At launch, the program is available only in two countries — Colombia and the Philippines — and covers selected creators across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Meta previously attempted to launch its own cryptocurrency. In 2019, the company announced the Libra project, later renamed Diem — an ambitious stablecoin designed to become a global digital currency. The project faced intense pushback from regulators and lawmakers worldwide and was fully shut down in 2022.

Now, Meta has chosen a more pragmatic path: instead of building its own stablecoin, the company is using established, proven infrastructure. Reportedly, the program could eventually expand to more than 160 countries.
