Earlier this week, users spotted a password-protected site under the domain claim.metamask.io, which visually and technically mirrors MetaMask’s official infrastructure. The page was initially inactive but now automatically redirects to the main MetaMask website.
The finding coincides with the rollout of the MetaMask Rewards program – a $30.0 million initiative allowing users to earn points for DeFi activity, including token swaps, cross-chain transactions, and interactions with apps on Linea, ConsenSys’s Ethereum Layer 2 network.
Analysts speculate that these reward points could be used to determine eligibility for a potential airdrop. However, ConsenSys has not commented on the timing or the distribution details.
Prediction markets have also reacted to the rumors. According to Polymarket data, the probability of a MetaMask token launch in 2025 recently climbed to 32% before settling at 18%.
MetaMask Expands Its Ecosystem
ConsenSys CEO Joe Lubin previously hinted that the MetaMask token would arrive “sooner than expected,” describing it as an important milestone toward decentralization. He noted that the rewards system serves as a bridge to the project’s next phase of growth.
MetaMask remains one of the most widely used wallets in the Ethereum ecosystem, with over 30 million active monthly users. A potential MASK token airdrop could become one of the largest events in DeFi history.
Earlier this year, MetaMask introduced MetaMask Perps for derivatives trading, expanded its staking options, and added support for new Layer 2 networks – solidifying its position as a full-stack DeFi platform.
The company also launched multichain accounts, allowing users to manage addresses across multiple blockchains – including Ethereum, Solana, and other EVM-compatible networks – from a single interface. According to MetaMask, the feature simplifies portfolio management and eliminates the need to switch networks.
