The reason for the suspension was suspicion of artificially inflated trading volumes. According to DeFiLlama co-founder 0xngm, the exchange’s volumes began to almost completely mirror those of Binance Perp. Following the news, the project’s native token ASTER fell by 8%.

What Is Known

The ASTER token generation event (TGE) took place on September 17, 2025. The team introduced the tokenomics and launched rewards for participants who tested the exchange and farmed points.

At the first stage of the airdrop, the platform captured almost 20% of the perpetual DEX market with a trading volume of $37.7 bln over 20 weeks. According to Coinalyze, the second phase developed even faster: in the first two weeks, the open interest reached $1.29 млрд, but the figure still lagged behind its main competitor, Hyperliquid.

Aster’s popularity is supported by features such as Hidden Orders and its own Layer 1 blockchain, which enhance capital efficiency and transaction privacy.

In the past 24 hours, Aster gained $14.81 mln in daily fees, ranking second globally by this metric compared to Hyperliquid’s $1.93 mln.

Rumors suggest that Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao is behind the project, which allegedly helped it quickly attract the attention of the DeFi community.

After launch, interest in the platform remained high, but the recent developments with DeFiLlama have put pressure on the token’s market performance.
