Teresa Goody Guillén, attorney for Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ), said that rumors suggesting he may have bribed U.S. President Donald Trump for a pardon have no factual basis.

In an interview on Anthony Pompliano’s podcast, she called the situation “a collection of false statements” and emphasized that references to World Liberty as “Trump’s company” are not supported by any information known to her.

According to Guillén, critics do not understand how business operations and blockchain technology actually work. She reminded listeners that CZ served four months in prison in 2024 and stepped down from Binance following accusations of insufficient anti–money laundering procedures.

Trump pardoned Zhao in October, stating that the reasons for his imprisonment “were not crimes.” The move provoked strong political backlash, including from Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Warren described the decision as an act of “corruption” and accused CZ of lobbying for his own pardon. Zhao responded that she “cannot get her facts straight.”

Guillén criticized Warren’s claims that CZ had been convicted of a crime, confirming that he received no such sentence under the legal definitions cited. She also questioned the extent of political immunity in the United States and urged public attention to that issue.

At the end of the podcast, the lawyer stressed that the pardon was an act of “justice,” noting that Zhao was the only individual to receive a prison sentence for such charges.
