Local media reported that three men broke into the home of a French couple in the Le Chesnay commune on Monday morning and held them hostage. The attackers posed as police officers and forced the homeowner to send a large amount of cryptocurrency. The victims lost approximately €900,000 in Bitcoin.

The Versailles prosecutor's office launched an investigation into unlawful confinement, armed gang robbery, and criminal conspiracy.

Home Invasion Disguised as Police

The assailants arrived at the home of the 58- and 59-year-old couple in the morning and claimed to be police officers. The wife opened the door, and the criminals pushed her aside to get inside.

One of the attackers pulled out a knife and threatened to stab the woman if her partner refused to transfer the Bitcoin to a specific wallet. The man complied and sent an amount equivalent to €900,000.

The attackers tied up the victims after the transfer. The wife later managed to free herself, untied her husband, and asked the neighbors for help.

The Anti-Gang Brigade is investigating the case, and the perpetrators have not yet been found.
