Binance co-founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao is advocating for a complete shift of traditional assets onto the blockchain.

Tokenization as a capital magnet

The former Binance chief declared tokenization one of the most effective tools for raising funds and attracting foreign direct investment (FDI).

"Let's tokenize everything. Which country/company won't want to sell their (tokenized) stocks to everyone in the world?" CZ posted.

Zhao noted that he supports issuing tokens across all blockchains, even while acknowledging that a multi-chain approach creates liquidity fragmentation. However, he believes fierce competition among multiple players remains the fastest way to scale the sector. High interoperability between different issuers will help solve the fragmentation issue over time, he added.

Tokenizing everyday life

CZ’s comments came on the heels of a report from BNB Chain showing that its network reached 776,000 real-world asset (RWA) holders. That figure surged nearly 370% in just 30 days, cementing BNB Chain's lead in the RWA space.

In the replies, investors and analysts pointed out the need to expand tokenization into everyday life.

"Tokenize the assets, and you bring in capital. Tokenize daily life like subscriptions, rent, loyalty points, recurring payments, and you bring in absolutely everyone. That’s where tokenization stops being only a finance story and becomes an adoption story," noted X user Spigg.

Meanwhile, the tokenized equities market has hit a $2.8 billion market cap, with Ondo Finance, xStocks, and Binance bStocks controlling a combined 78.6% of the sector.
