The Scottish whiskey producer Bowmore is launching its first series of tokenized bottles on the Avalanche blockchain. The NFT collection will be available for pre-sale today on the website nft.suntory.com. The official launch is scheduled for September 30, 2025, at the TOKEN2049 conference in Singapore.
The project was implemented together with Avalanche, a decentralized layer-one blockchain platform. Each bottle in the collection will be represented as a unique NFT on the Avalanche C-Chain network. This ensures authenticity verification, digital ownership, and redemption capability.
Two Tiers of Access From $180 to $5500 Per Bottle
The limited series includes two editions. The Bowmore 30-Year-Old collector’s edition will be priced at $5500, with only 8 bottles released. Each comes with branded glassware and an invitation to meet Ava Labs founder Emin Gün Sirer.
The second option, Bowmore 12-Year-Old, is designed for broader collectors. It is priced at $180, with 150 bottles available.
Each bottle is equipped with an NFC tag linked to its corresponding NFT. This confirms both the authenticity of the product and its digital ownership. Buyers can claim the NFT through the Suntory website either via a crypto wallet or by email. The model is designed for both experienced Web3 users and traditional collectors.
Buyers of the Bowmore 30-Year-Old will also gain access to a private dinner at Wakuda Singapore. The event will take place on September 30, with eight NFT owners, industry leaders, and conference guests attending. A separate tasting will be organized for media and collectors.
Why Avalanche Was Chosen
According to Roi Hirata, head of Ava Labs in Japan, Bowmore chose Avalanche because of its high scalability, low fees, and fast transaction confirmation. These characteristics, the team believes, are critical for connecting physical goods with digital ownership.
Ashley Maclachlan, director of digital products at Suntory Global Spirits, noted that the launch of the tokenized line is a way to combine traditional craftsmanship with technology.
