The Bitcoin Beyond 66 team has launched Bitcoin Evidence Base — a platform that brings together verified research on Bitcoin, its energy consumption, and its environmental footprint. The project was created in response to criticism of mining, which its creators believe is often based on outdated data and weak methodology.
What’s Inside
The database features peer-reviewed scientific studies, Cambridge University reports, ERCOT data, materials from the WooCharts ESG Tracker, works by Sai and Vranken, along with research from the Digital Assets Research Institute. One of its key sources is Cambridge’s April 2025 report, which estimated that renewable energy accounted for 52.4% of mining’s total energy mix.
The platform also includes an AI tool that helps users tailor responses to specific criticisms of Bitcoin depending on the discussion format — whether for public debates or social media. Its communication methodology is based on researcher Daniel Batten’s model: acknowledging objective issues, engaging with audience emotions, and relying on verified data.
Beyond the evidence base, the project also offers a research module, educational materials, and a daily newsletter.
