As the holidays approach, NFTs have become not only a unique gift but also a way to preserve a piece of the year’s digital culture. In 2024, festive NFT collections surprised everyone with their variety, ranging from romantic Valentine’s Day releases to Christmas-themed collaborations. We’ve compiled some of the most memorable ones.
One of the brightest highlights was the Doodles and McDonald’s collaboration. Starting November 18, McCafé holiday cups were adorned with Doodles artwork. The promotion is still ongoing and also includes exclusive digital collectibles for McDonald’s app users.
This partnership immediately boosted the prices of Doodles NFTs. Right after the announcement, tokens from the collection hit the daily top charts, and sales volumes soared by over 420% in one day and nearly 750% over the last month. The floor price for NFTs in the collection currently stands at 2.66 ETH (~$9,400).
From November 23 to December 1, users of Exodus, a blockchain-based MMORPG in Decentraland, could gather unique Amberleaf Shards to exchange them for a Thanksgiving 2024 Ticket. The ticket granted access to the exclusive “Pilgrim’s Legacy” collection featuring a unique Pilgrim NFT.
In 2024, ChainGPT held a contest to create the spookiest Halloween-themed NFTs. Participants could generate and mint their digital creations, earning points and competing for prizes, including a MetaQuest 3 and CGPT tokens (trading at $0.1804 at the time of writing).
A free ChainGPT generator made participation accessible to all, and the eerie masterpieces remain on the blockchain as a reminder of a creative approach to celebrating the holiday.
For Easter 2024, Alpaca Finance, one of the largest leveraged yield farming DeFi platforms, released an alpaca-themed NFT symbolizing the start of a new bull market. Users who made any deposit in the Money Market by April 2 received this NFT.
For Valentine’s Day, the Shiba Inu developers introduced a new NFT collection called “Sheboshis,” a female counterpart to the popular Shiboshis. Despite criticism for the lack of clear utility, the launch generated excitement within the community. The collection promises to become part of the Shibarium Web3 ecosystem, although specific details remain unknown.
