David Meisel recently unveiled Project Ekos, a Marvel-type entertainment universe that combines Web3 with Hollywood features. Taking the NFT collection Ekos Genesis as a basis, he has turned it into a graphic novel and a feature film, and he wants to do this independently of the major movie labels. In this way, the NFT characters get their own narrative and story, which is unpacked in the accompanying media products.

To monetize the product, he uses another tool, Kickstarter. There he is selling the Ekos Volume 1 graphic novel, also offering a number of limited edition collectibles for this new entertainment universe.

Crucially, such bundles include sets of assorted digital and physical artifacts from this universe. These include the Ekos graphic novel, Ekos trading cards and merchandise, the upcoming movie, and much more to please fans of this kind of hybrid art.

Analysts point out that many NFT-based projects today are trying to move beyond purely speculative markets like crypto. Moving in this vein, Maisel is using his influence in the movie industry and creative vision to create a Web3 universe that utilizes an entirely new financial development model.
